Chartiers Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. was chartered in 1957 by a group of individuals who found it necessary to have fire prevention provided in their community. Chartiers Twp. is approximately 26 square miles and the fire department operates out of one central location located at the intersection of Pike Street, Racetrack Road, and Allison Hollow Road.
There are currently 32 members of the department, with 17 of these being active. There are multiple families with generations in membership. The department is currently under the direction of Chief Fred Simpson and Gary Friend who is the current President of the fire department, and has been serving since 2013. Gary is also a retired firefighter from the City of Washington.
